Why New York is the Most Haunted State

Hey it’s Scotty Mac  — and if you’ve ever felt a chill in the air that wasn’t the weather, you’re not alone. New York has just been named the most haunted state in America, and the numbers are freaky.

According to a study by Casino.ca, New Yorkers have reported a bone-chilling 81 ghost sightings per 10,000 people — and some experts believe the true number is more like 2,329 per 10,000. That’s a lot of ghosts.

Why so haunted? Aside from our deep history and eerie locations, we’ve also got the only legally haunted house in America — thanks to the infamous “Ghostbusters ruling” in the Hudson Valley.

So whether it’s old battlefields, creepy mansions, or spooky city brownstones — here in the Empire State, the ghosts aren’t just in the stories... they might be standing right behind you.

Stay spooky and don't miss the Friday ghost tours with The Woodman!
